To commemorate 75th Anniversary of India’s Freedom as Azadi Ka Mahostav, the PG Department of Commerce and Management is organizing “Vanijya Mela” – An outreach initiative with regard to e-filing of return, type of return, deduction available, investment awareness to save tax, investment in Mutual Funds – open ended and close ended schemes, Equity Linked Schemes, Draft Funds, Balanced Advantage Funds and other hybrid schemes. Mrs. Alka Sharma, Head of PG Department of Commerce explained that keeping in mind the social responsibility of the institution towards the society, this outreached program has been initiated.
The objective of the program is the academic achieving out
to the common man and providing solutions the faculty amis at translating the
complex academic jargon into simple semantics for the ordinary citizens. Also
the program is in line with the outreach program as specified under NAAC
(Accreditation Council, Bangalore). This program is open for the shopkeepers,
businessmen, academicians, parents and the other stakeholders along with the
student for all the four days.
Mrs. Alka Sharma, Head of Department of Commerce welcomed the guests and
gave introductory address by explaining the purpose of such Meals. She also
told that it will be a regular feature of the Department. Mrs. Priya Mahajan
Assistant Professor in Commerce gave guidance with regard to online filing of
income tax return, ITR forms to be filled, online tax payment, relevance of AIS
(Form 26AS) and how to log in on the income tax Portal. Ms. Palak Alang,
Assistant Professor in Commerce gave details about Funds and Investment awareness
especially about Mutual Funds and their Schemes and Systematic Investment Plan
(SVP).
The personal queries of the tax payers were also taken uo and practical
exposure was given to the student. The students too showed their keen
investment and enthusiasm in filing of various forms and making the tax payers
understand the intricacies of market risk and return. The first day of the
event was well attended by the faculty of the Commerce Department.
The stage was
successfully conducted by Mrs. Shikha Puri, the Dean of Commerce Club. The
programe will continue for another 3 days in which more people would be also to
take advantage of this outreach program. The honorable members of the Managing
Committee and the worthy Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Pooja Prashar applauded the
efforts of Mrs. Alka Sharma, the Head of the PG Department of Commerce in
planning and executing such programmes for the benefits of the students.
