The PG Department of Commerce and
Management organised a guest lecture on the “Skill sets required to sustain in
Banking, Financial Security and Insurance (BFSI) Sector: A Rendezous with
Reality.” the guest on the occasion was Mr. Kanwaljeet Singh,
Founder and CEO at Proftrain Mentors: CPBFI-CSR initiative of Bajaj Finserv.
The lecture was started by a formal welcome by Mrs. Alka Sharma , Head , PG
Department of Commerce and Management. Mr. Kanwaljeet initiated talking about
the dynamics of the job market and highlighted the importance of Banking,
Financial Services and Insurance( BFSI) in the years to come. He said that as
the technology is taking over the operations customer retention is going to be
the need of the hour. So, students must acquire the skills required to serve
the BFSI Sector. He stressed that the students must inculcate two things i.e
confidence and effective communication to grow in their carrier hierarchy.
There is a huge gap between demand and supply in the job market meaning there
by jobs are plenty but there is paucity of skilled people as only 5% of people
are employable so, the students must groom themselves through proper training .
He explained about the Certificate Program in Banking, Finance and Insurance
(CPBFI) by Bajaj Finserv , which can be a game changer for the students. It is
core component of BAJAJ Finserv’s employability initiative, aimed at making
graduates employable for banking , financial services and insurance industry.
CPBFI is a customised program for a person who is looking for a carrier
opportunity in BFSI Sector. The course module is divided in to four sections
total 96 hours
wherein .
Module I- Managing self (Swaroop) -12 hours
Module-II Communication and workplace skills – 36
hours.
Module-III Overview of retail banking -24 Hours
Module-IV Insurance and allied services -24 Hours.
Once the students clear the exam and HR Interview, they become an Alumni of BAJAJ Finserv and placement related opportunities are regularly posted. The whole session gave a comprehensive overview about the skills sets required to be a part of BFSI Sector and the associated program CPBFI program that could help the program ready for the job market wherein only three sectors shall have a role to play i.e. IT, Healthcare and BFSI sector. The session was’ attended by B.Com final year students, students of Post Graduation in Commerce and by students of B.Sc. (Eco).
