The PG Department of Computer Science and IT and
the PG Department of Commerce and Management organized a workshop on Hands-on
Training: Advance MS Excel in association with O7 Solutions (IT Company) from 2nd
April 2024 (Tuesday) to 5th April 2024 (Saturday) in the
Computer Lab of IT Block. The resource persons for the workshop were Ms.
Shivani, and Ms. Diksha, faculty members of O7 Solutions (IT Company). The
objective of this event was to give students hands-on experience in relation to
Advance Ms -Excel.
Dr. Mrs. Lovey Sharma, assistant professor in the
PG Department of Computer Science and IT, introduced the eminent speakers and
welcomed them. The students were divided into two groups, and each group was
allocated different labs with one resource person. On first day, the basics of
MS Excel were discussed, like: What are a workbook and a worksheet, Operations
like: Copy, paste, move, find, replace, navigate, insert, and remove
hyperlinks; change worksheet tab color; insert and delete rows and columns
adjust rows and column heights; How to change the theme, insert a header and
footer, and hide and unhide worksheet cells Modify document properties. A
detailed description of formulas was also given, including formulas for some
min and max and a value count, average, if function, sum if, upper, lower,
right, left, and middle.
On the second day, students were explained about
managing a workbook, encrypt shut, protecting it with a password, formatting,
creating a specific list, custom conditional formatting, managing conditional
formatting inspection, how to create a table and change its design and style,
and how to sort, remove, and duplicate it.
On the third day, charts and multiple chart
creation, labeling of charts by inserting text, moving charts, pivot tables,
and pivot charts were discussed in detail. Formulas of count if, sum if,
average if, V lookup, H lookup, date and time, and, or, not, etc. were also
discussed.
On the last and fourth day of this workshop, the
students were given details about financial functions: payment function,
interest payment function, principal payment function, data validation,
troubleshooting feature, scenario management, macros, and to change currency in
Excel.For all four days, the resource persons delivered the lecture for two
hours, followed by a practice session of one hour, during which the students
got hands-on experience and time to solve their doubts on a real-time basis,
and the resource persons guided the students and solved the valid queries.
Dr. Mrs. Lovey Sharma presented a vote of thanks
on the fourth and last day. A total of 84 students from B. Com Sem IV, B. Com
(FS) Sem IV, B. Com Sem VI, M. Com Sem II, and M. Com Sem IV attended this
workshop. It was a knowledgeable session that served as an opportunity for
students to be updated on the new concepts of Advance MS Excel.
